One of the most common things I hear from new parents before a newborn session is some version of “I hope the baby cooperates” — and I always want to reassure them that there is genuinely no wrong way for a newborn to show up to their own session.
Can I just say — big families are some of my absolute favorite sessions to photograph? I know that might surprise you, because the common assumption is that more kids means more chaos means more stress. And yes, there is usually chaos involved! But there is also so much energy and personality and genuine interaction happening, and that translates into the most incredible, lively, full-of-life images.
I hear it all the time: “We’ll book a session when things settle down a little.” And I completely understand the impulse — life is busy, the kids are in a phase, work is crazy, and finding the time and energy to add one more thing to the calendar feels impossible. But here’s the truth I’ve learned after photographing families for many years: things don’t really settle down. Life just keeps moving, and the kids keep growing, and the version of your family that exists right now will never exist again.
That’s not meant to be dramatic — it’s actually meant to be freeing! You don’t need to wait for the perfect moment, because this moment, exactly as it is, is already worth documenting. I specialize in making the whole experience feel easy and low-pressure, so that even the busiest, most overwhelmed families can show up and walk away with images they genuinely love.
