Sometimes sessions stay with you long after the gallery is delivered — ones where you walk away feeling like you were trusted with something really precious.

I had the privilege of photographing the Thompsons for a maternity session just before daughter Violet’s leukemia diagnosis last September, and I have thought about this family so many times since then. With three kids and a baby on the way, the energy between them was exactly what you’d expect from a family that size — full and bright and bursting with love.
