San Diego Elopement // Sarah + Steve

August 22, 2016

Sarah and Steve. Aaaah, where do I even begin? I guess I’ll begin at… the beginning. 😉

Sarah and Steve met on a blind date arranged by mutual friends who thought they’d make the perfect match. Though they lived in San Diego and LA respectively, as their friends predicted, the two hit it off wonderfully and began a relationship. About a year in, Steve took Sarah to Yosemite to camp for the first time. After hiking through the rain to their campsite, and getting completely soaked, Steve let Sarah dry off and warm up while he pitched the tent, made dinner, and chopped firewood. That moment was when Sarah knew Steve was the one. After a couple years of long-distance, Sarah moved to LA to join Steve, and two years ago, he made it official and asked her to be his wife.

When it came to wedding plans, Sarah wanted to elope, just the two of them. Steve wanted a traditional wedding with loved ones around to celebrate. Their compromise was this elopement, and it was perfection – the absolute best of both worlds.

The wedding took place at the San Diego County Administration Center, a beautiful old art-deco style building facing the San Diego harbor. It was all the simplicity of an elopement, but Sarah and Steve’s families and closest friends were invited to witness their union. After the ceremony, we headed to Old Town and Presidio Park for photos, and then joined all the guests at Old Town Tequila Factory for the reception. No better way to celebrate than Mexican food and margaritas! 😉

For their honeymoon, Sarah and Steve are taking all of September off and are headed to France, Italy, Greece, and Croatia. I’m not jealous at all…….

I’m sharing more details on the dress, cake, bouquet, etc. below, but first, enjoy the photos.

A few last details…

Sarah’s amazing dress is by Spell from Byron Bay, Australia, and was purchased through Free People. Her hair and makeup were done by Judith Cervantes of Hair Drezzers on Fire.

The bouquet was arranged by Sarah’s friend Earl, and made of succulents from his own garden. The Italian cream cake was made by Sarah’s grandmother, who recently finished cancer treatments and is now in remission. Having her able to be at the wedding and make such a beautiful and delicious cake was incredibly special for them all!
