Here’s something I’ve learned after years of photographing families: the ones who show up a little chaotic, with kids who won’t cooperate and a toddler who has already had a meltdown in the car — those sessions almost always produce the most beautiful, real, and memorable images. Because that is your family, and that chaos is actually just love in disguise.
Family photography is so much more than getting everyone to look at the camera and smile at the same time. It’s about freezing a moment in time that you’ll want to return to years from now — when the kids are grown and the house is quiet and you would give anything to go back, just for an afternoon. That’s what I’m after at every single session.
