In September I took my family to Salt Lake City and Park City for a quick little getaway, and to trade sessions with a photographer friend of mine, Raegan Christensen. We got our photos done up in the mountains, and I’m in love with them! I’ll definitely share them sometime soon.
Raegan and her husband had recently welcomed their third little one, and we did her family session in their beautiful home. I just love film + window light!

You may be considering newborn photos, but feel nervous about how your session might go, especially if you have a toddler who loves to run wild or is seriously shy or just has a short attention span. And every mama knows that those first few weeks postpartum are not ones where it is easy to love our changing bodies, despite the fact that we know we should and that they’ve just taken part in a miracle.
But truly, if I could tell you one thing, it’s to put aside your worries and preserve these precious, fleeting days. If you could see behind the scenes, you’d know that 9 out of 10 toddlers is completely nuts – some won’t look at me, some throw fits, some hit their baby siblings, and some simply run away… but you’d never know that from the photos we get. Or you’d see that nearly every mother I photograph is struggling with her self-esteem so soon after giving birth (which is not helped by lack of sleep and undergoing a major life transition) – but each mother is stunningly beautiful and photographing her is an honor. Or you’d see that houses are messy because parents are busy tending to every other more important thing than cleaning, like enjoying every second out of this new life and stealing every moment of sleep possible. It’s rarely a smooth transition, rarely a smooth session, but it’s always, always, always perfect.
These days don’t last, and each one that passes is gone for good. I would absolutely love to make some treasured memories with you and your family!
