I was so lucky to meet Ashlyn and Branden and their families – they ended up booking me just days before their wedding after their original photographer couldn’t travel due to a family emergency. Despite the little bit of chaos that naturally happens when you need to find a replacement so quickly before your wedding, everything was perfect.
The day started off with their sealing ceremony at the Meridian LDS Temple, and the wildfire smoke that hangs around too long each summer actually made for the most gorgeous lighting! Instead of harsh sunlight late on a summer morning, it was very filtered and soft and we were able to get beautiful photos of Ashlyn and Branden around the temple.
After the sealing and time for photos, they hosted a reception in the backyard of Branden’s childhood home. I was absolutely in awe of his family’s incredible yard! It so perfectly balanced beauty, nature, and FUN – from the playground and pool, to the tree swings and endless grass to run in, to the bountiful garden and apple trees, to everyone’s favorite: the treehouse!
Calling their treehouse just a treehouse doesn’t quite seem right, because it’s much more than that. It’s more like a tiny home in a tree. It even has electricity, beds for adults to comfortably sleep in, and an electric fireplace that they use to keep warm in it during the winter. It’s actually where Branden proposed to Ashlyn last Christmas!
The reception was everything I personally happen to love: catered pizza, an ice cream bar, dancing under string lights, and friends and relatives and their children everywhere. Congrats, Ashlyn and Branden!
