Outdoor family sessions are one of my favorite thing to photograph, and I don’t think that will ever change. I love the natural light and open space and a family that just gets to show up and be themselves that produces images I genuinely love every single time. Kids move more freely outside, parents relax more outside, and the energy of a session that happens in a beautiful natural setting just has a openess to it that is really hard to manufacture anywhere else.
Idaho is such an incredible place to photograph families — the light here, especially as it nears sunset, is something I never take for granted. Golden hour outdoor sessions have a warmth and a glow to them that makes everything look a little more beautiful, and choosing the right location for your family’s specific vibe makes a really big difference in the final result.
Whether your family is laid back and casual or you want something that feels a little more elevated and intentional, an outdoor session can go in so many directions — and figuring out exactly what that looks like for you is one of my favorite parts of the whole process.
