There is a case to be made for in home newborn sessions that I don’t think gets made often enough, and it basically comes down to this: the first weeks with a new baby happen in your home, and incredibly to document them there.
The way the light comes through your bedroom window in the morning, the chair you’ve been sitting in for every middle of the night feeding, the little corner of your living room that has somehow become the center of your whole world since this baby arrived — that is the backdrop of this season, and it makes for the most warm, intimate, genuine images I know how to create. There is a realness to an in home session that is hard to replicate anywhere else, and families almost always feel it when they see their gallery.
In home sessions can also be easier for some families, especially in those early newborn weeks when getting out of the house feels like a massive undertaking. I come to you, I work with the light you have, and I photograph your family in the space where you are actually living this season. If you have an older sibling (or siblings!) at home, keeping them in their own comfortable environment can make a really big difference in how they show up during the session too.
The newborn stage is so short, and the version of your home and your family that exists right now in these early weeks is something that will change before you even fully realize it’s happening.
